General Description

Rollform offers a wide range of fully automatic Horizontal Strip Accumulators in several models to suit any type of strip processing line for totally stress free strip accumulation.

The spiral Accumulator is installed between the Shear & Welder and the forming line. Its purpose is to give enough time for the Shear & Welder to cut and join both ends of the two successive coils for continuous mill operation.

     * Srrip Thickness : Max 4.0mm to min 1.50mm

 II) Discharging line speed : Max.100m/min.continuous operation

Detailed Description :

Pinch Rolls

The pinch rolls feed the strip from the uncoiler in to rotary table of Accumulator. This has a high speed (fill) mode, synchronous (mill match) mode and jog mode, which are controlled automatically and/ or manual mode. All the feeding cycle is automatically controlled.

III) Jog speed : manual 20m/min.
IV) Pinch pressure : Hydraulic cylinder Sol.valve operated
V) Roll direction : vertical
VI) Roll Drive : Both left and right roll driven Through distribution gears
VII) Roll material : Alloy steel hardened
VIII)Guide rolls : Top and bottom edge guide rolls
IX) Uncoiler brake controls : Brake signals are controlled by the PLC to the uncoiler.

Accumulator Tables

The turn table takes the strip from the pinch rolls on to the table and forms outer coils. The strip transits to the inner coils formed on the inner free rolls. The difference between the diameters of both coils makes the storage. The number of turns can be selected up to the mechanical limit in order to adjust the storage capacity if so necessary.

Exit Guide Rolls

The strip is brought out through the take-out harbour and twisted to the horizontal direction and guided to the exit pass height, these are idle guide rolls with frame fabricated out of plates.

Automatic Operation

After the strip is joined with the next coil, the operator may set Accumulator in to the Auto-mode, in this mode depletion of the coil in Accumulator is detected, and the high speed feed automatically starts. If the coil lenght of one coil is longer than the capicity of the Accumulator, the pinch rolls and the turn table runs at the discharging speed (i.e. tube mill speed, forming mill speed etc) Until the remaining coil length on the uncoiler comes to the equivalent length of the Accumulator. When the last turn of the outer coil is pulled by the mill, an electronic detector senses it and the pinch rolls starts the high speed automatically and continues to the end of the coil. At the end of the coil the pinch rolls reduces the speed to a low speed, which can be used to stop the tailing end before the strip joiner. And the control mode turns to the manual mode.
